About the Film
In a world longing for meaning, connection, and peace, Taizé: A Pilgrimage of Trust offers a glimpse into a place where those longings are gently tended. This documentary captures the journey of youth who travel from their everyday lives into the contemplative rhythm of the Taizé Community in France. Through their eyes, we experience a week of shared work, silent prayer, communal meals, music that transcends language, and friendships that reach across borders.
More than a film, this is an invitation to encounter a way of living that affirms simplicity, compassion, and reconciliation. It’s a story of quiet transformation, a journey inward that resonates far beyond the hills of Burgundy.

Nestled among the rolling hills of Burgundy, France, the Taizé Community is a living testimony to the power of reconciliation, simplicity, and trust.
Founded in 1940 by Brother Roger Schutz amidst the chaos of World War II, the community emerged as a quiet but powerful resistance to division, welcoming refugees, healing wounds between enemies, and sowing seeds of peace.
Today, the Taizé Community is home to over 60 brothers from Catholic and Protestant traditions, representing more than 30 countries. These men have chosen to dedicate their lives to prayer, service, and shared living, building bridges between people of all faiths and backgrounds.
But Taizé is more than its brothers. It is the laughter around shared meals, the stillness of a candlelit church filled with song, and the quiet encounters between strangers who become companions on the journey. Every week, thousands of young people from across the world gather here, believers and seekers alike, to share in the community’s simple rhythm of life.
Our film follows nine teens from Massachusetts as they immerse themselves in the community’s unique blend of Catholic and Protestant spirituality through song, prayer, work, and fellowship.
Their journey captures the wonder of Taizé, revealing how the power of simplicity, silence, prayer, and community can still speak in ways that electronic devices never could. Through this experience, they discover faith as a living, transformative force, one that transcends divisions and opens hearts to connection, reflection, and a deeper sense of meaning.
Since the late 1950s, Taizé has welcomed thousands of young pilgrims from across the globe, seekers drawn by its invitation to faith beyond barriers.
